The Registered Nurse (R.N.) assess, directs, delegates, coordinates and evaluates consumer care through collaborative efforts with health team members and in accordance with the nursing process and the standards of care and practices. The registered Nurse may serve as the administration’s designee in supervisory capacity. Coordination of all staff assignments ensures that all consumers will receive optimal care and that the unit duties are completed. Maintains the unit safe, oversees the MHT. Responds and documents on all inquiry calls.
Chicago Children’s seeks Experienced Registered Nurses for full time night shift. RN’s with Behavioral Health, Psych experience encouraged to apply.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITY:
- Knowledge of code procedures
- Knowledge of psychiatric, medical and A.N.A. standards and nursing procedures that meet standards including State Nurse Practice Act and Code of Ethics
- Knowledge of computers and various software programs
- Knowledge of the federal, state and local laws that pertain to enquires right to privacy and confidentiality
- Knowledge of legal obligations for reporting abuse and/or neglect
- Knowledge of clinical and age appropriate behaviors
- Knowledge of the Mental Health Code and Privacy Act
- Knowledge of crisis intervention procedures
- Knowledge of trauma informed care
- Skill in organizing and prioritizing workloads to meet deadlines
- Skill in telephone etiquette and paging procedures
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Excellent time management skills
- Strong customer service skills
- Ability to adhere to safety policies and procedures
- Ability to work as a team player
- Ability to demonstrate tact, resourcefulness, patience and dedication
- Ability to accept direction and adhere to policies and procedures
- Ability to understand levels of crisis
- Ability to tolerate ambiguity, uncertainty and change
- Ability to use effective judgment and maintain confidentiality of information
Ability to recognize the importance of adapting to the various consumer age.

Job Requirements
::
EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION: Graduated of an accredited school of nursing is required. A minimum of one (1) year experience in a psychiatric/mental health field is preferred.
Previous experience in psychiatric nursing or behavioral health nursing.
Previous crisis prevention intervention programs highly desirable. Valid CPR certification.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION: Current RN license to practice by the Illinois State Board of Nursing is required. Primary Source Verification shall be required through Illinois Department of Professional Regulations
Current CPR card required.
