Job Description

Department: Health Information Management Position: Coder Abstract Analyst Job Duties: 1. Accurately assigns, sequences, and abstracts appropriate ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 Codes. Accurately assigns the Diagnostic Related Group (MS-DRG) to discharged patients. 2. Meets established productivity standards and accuracy rates for all record types: Inpatient, Same Day Surgery/Endoscopy, Emergency Department, and Outpatient Diagnostics. 3. Helps evaluates the quality of documentation in the chart. Works closely with the Clinical Documentation Improvement Team to make recommendations and implement changes. 4. Participate on the Implementation Team for Computer Assisted Coding (CAC) and other projects. 5. Performs any related duties as assigned by Coding Coordinator and Director, Health Information Management. Requirements: 1. Minimum of three years inpatient coding experience 2. Preferred CCS credential, or RHIA or RHIT credential
