Perioperative Nursing Educator (RN #86590)

Operating Room/Ambulatory Care/MedSurg opening in, Ohio. The Unit-based educator collaborates with the unit manager to facilitate education/training, planning, organization, implementation and evaluation a given unit. The Unit-based educator participates in the performance improvement process in order to ensure competent nursing care, quality customer service and cost-effectiveness.

The Unit Based Educator will also work in staffing as needed on the unit.

Education: Assesses employee competency on assigned unit and develops competency assessment programs.
1. Plans, implements and evaluates staff orientation.
2. Plans, implements and evaluates unit-based education needs based on management input, risk management and learning needs assessments.
3. Acts as a resource to nursing facility and students.
4. Participates in the development, implementation and evaluation of regional education programs, as needed.
5. Maintains unit employee education files. etc.

Clinical Competence:
1. Serves as a resource and role model for staff in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of care provided on the unit.

2. Provides direct patient care as needed.
. Acts as a clinical resource for patient care.

Leadership:
1. Assists staff in meeting professional and departmental standards of care, organizational policies and procedures utilizing feedback and coaching to enhance quality of care.
2. Participates in the development, implementation and evaluation of policies and procedures.
3. Collaborates with management to promote appropriate staff and supply utilization to demonstrate fiscal responsibility. Provides input for the budgetary needs of the unit.
4. Participates in local and regional education councils, and assigned task forces/committees.
5. Participates in unit leadership meetings. etc.

Research:
1. Ensures that all teaching is based on nursing science or related sciences.
2. Formulates nursing research questions.
3. Promotes nursing research and its relevance at work.
4. Knowledgeable about current research findings and related literature in area of expertise.
5. Reviews research literature and communications current findings to peers and team members. etc
Education:
Current RN licensure to practice nursing in State of Ohio
Bachelors degree in nursing or health related field required

Experience:
Minimum or 10,000 hours (approximately 5 years full time) experience in clinical care delivery, prefer 4000 hours (2 years full-time) current clinical experience in clinical specialty.
Experience with clinical staff development preferred.
Certification in area of clinical practice preferred.
Someone with strong OR experience (preferably 5 years)
