We are expanding our purchasing department and are seeking an experienced Buyer in our corporate office. The ideal candidate will have an entrepreneur’s mind set and a proven track record of purchasing finished goods from manufacturers for resale to the Federal Government. Additionally, experience with vendor relations and the ability to strategically manage 100+ vendors are required.

This position is located in our Corporate Headquarters in Aberdeen, NC and is not a remote position.

Duties:

• Manage inventory
• Assess, manage and mitigate risks
• Develop and execute purchasing strategies in a fast paced environment
• Issue purchase orders and monitor them closely until closed
• Develop customer order fulfillment strategies for on time and profitable deliveries
• Track and report key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness
• Craft negotiation strategies and close deals with optimal terms
• Partner with stakeholders to ensure clear requirements documentation
• Seek and partner with reliable suppliers and maintain positive vendor relations
• Monitor and forecast upcoming levels of demand
• Prepare documents for regulatory bodies
• Coordinate drivers, vehicles, loads and journeys
• Ensure compliance with company policies and shipping legislation

Skills / Knowledge:

• Proven experience as a buyer
• Supply chain, logistics or relevant field is a plus
• Ability to multi-task is key
• Familiarity with sourcing and vendor management
• Must be process and procedure driven
• Interest in market dynamics along with business sense
• A knack for negotiation and networking
• Ability to gather and analyze data
• Solid judgment along with decision making skills
• Strong leadership capabilities with an entrepreneurial spirit
• Knowledge of tactical industry

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree is required, however, prior experience may be considered
• 5+ Years experience in Microsoft Office environment with emphasis on Excel
• 3+ Years in management positions
• 3+ Years of customer service
• Experience with government procurement a plus
