Job Description

Mizkan America is seeking a Production Supervisor at its Owensboro, Ky. Plant with primary duties on 3nd shift. The Owensboro Plant is the only plant that produces Ragu and Bertolli pasta sauce for the world market. This position is salaried, supervisory level. Applicants must be flexible to work any shift and/or change work hours to cover production demands.  

Overall Responsibility: Responsible for assuring compliance with occupational health, safety, environmental, food quality and personnel policy compliance. Has overall responsibility for planning, organizing, directing and coordinating the production teams and associates assigned to the position. Supports team objectives by providing adequate resources and materials necessary to work safely and maintain a high level of production efficiency within the annual budget plan. Provides leadership through example, motivates individuals, builds team spirit and counsels associates to achieve excellence. Supports implementation and development of continuous improvement though coaching, mentoring and annual objectives.  

 Daily and as required: 1. Provide adequate staff levels on teams to meet production plan requirements. 2. Coordinates activities of teams to maximize labor effectiveness and assure adequate breaks. 3. Observes teams and ensures compliance with safety, health and environmental rules and guidelines. Corrects unsafe acts and conditions. 4. Completes daily reports. 5. Lead teams in weekly scheduled meetings. 6. Work with production and maintenance teams to improve line efficiencies. 7. Provides leadership and ensures full completion of assigned line improvement projects. 8. Teaches/coaches manufacturing support team members to coach and support assigned team members. 9. Leads team to maximize yields and minimize waste. 10. Order and approve supply needs for the team/area. 11. Stays up to date on all equipment and processes in the area. 12. As required, performs performance evaluations to develop and motivate good performance. 13. Is able to improve and develop team members’ performance through effective coaching, and ensure compliance with policy guidelines for corrective steps. 14. Monitors completion of preventative inspections and restorative work in effort to support reliable operation of equipment in area. 15. Teaches/coaches production operators and maintenance associates through process of implementing principles of Continuous Improvement.  

Challenges: 1. Must have the ability to manage multiple priorities proactively and re-prioritize on a daily basis to accommodate the changing business requirements. 2. Must be comfortable interfacing with various corporate roles and personnel without being face to face. 3. Must be able to troubleshoot and quickly initiate actions required to resolved problems. 4. Must be able to organize and manage time effectively. 5. Must be able to make quick decisions while collaboratively analyzing and pinpointing problems. 6. Must be capable of using strategic influence to gain support for desired process changes; functions as a business partner with the plant leadership to provide leadership. 7. Change Catalyst for Continuous Improvement; ensures that teams understand and implement all Continuous Improvement principles. 8. Meet annual objectives to reduce losses due to stops, accidents and waste through effective Continuous Improvement practices. 9. Empower teams to maximize C.I. concepts and enable time for strategic planning.  

Internal Communication: Clear and effective oral and written communication with internal and external team members on the production schedules. Foster cooperation and consensus among team members, and support Positive Employee Relations at all time.

 Qualifications/Requirements: Bachelor degree in Business, Supply Chain Management or related field preferred. Experienced leader with proven track record. Hands on experience in manufacturing. Willing to work any shift/flexibility in time and shift changes to meet demands of the position
